YouTube announced last October some of the original programming it was producing for its YouTube Red subscription service, and the first four originals went live on Wednesday, February 10th.

The first four original series are Lazer Team, A Trip to Unicorn Island, Scare PewDiePie, and Dance Camp.

If you haven't yet subscribed to YouTube Red, you can try the service free for the first month, and for $9.99/month after. Membership not only gives you access to these new original shows, but you'll also get to watch all YouTube videos ad-free, you'll be able to save videos to watch offline, and play videos in the background on your device. And if that's not enough, enrolling with YouTube Red doubles as a subscription to Google Play Music's streaming service.

If you're hemming and hawing about trying out the service for free, check out the trailers to help you make up your mind.

Lazer Team

Lazer Team is a feature-length sci-fi/action/comedy from Rooster Teeth about four townies who encounter a UFO, then do battle with alien forces to save the world.

A Trip to Unicorn

A Trip to Unicorn Island is a feature-length documentary that follows YouTube personality Lilly Singh (aka IISuperwomanII) on a 26-city global tour.

Scare PewDiePie

Scare PewDiePie should be self-explanatory, but in case it isn't, the series places YouTube's most-subscribed personality into situations in which he is subsequently frightened. The show is co-produced by Robert Kirkman's Skybound Entertainment, which you might know from his series The Walking Dead, among others. So, the horror visuals should be legit. The dialogue and plotting? Maybe not so much. Check out a full episode here:

Dance Camp

The trailer for Dance Camp starts off with a team of young girls named "YOLO's" dancing suggestively aaaaaand, okay, I'm not watching this anymore. Let's just use YouTube's description: "This film from AwesomenessTV weaves an amazing story of unlikely friendships, unleashing passions, and discovering yourself all through the power of dance." Cool.

Upcoming YouTube Red Originals

YouTube also announced two new originals it's adding to its lineup. An untitled project with Gigi Gorgeous, and Foursome, also from Awesomeness TV.

YouTube had previously teased a few more shows: Prank Academy from the people at PrankvsPrank, Fight of the Living Dead from Alpine Labs, Bad Internet from CollegeHumor, and an untitled project about 360 Game Theory from MatPat of The Game Theorists.
