It's been a rough week for Instagram. First they came out with a new terms of service that suggested the right to let companies use people's photos for advertisements without the user's permission. Then everyone started freaking out and debating whether or not to leave the online photo-sharing and social networking service. Now, they've changed the controversial wording saying that the selling of user photos "is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing".
Well regardless of the wording, the damage has been done. Loads of users are threatening to leave Instagram--- even the applications most followed user.
Ohhhh noooooooooo. Jk.
Well, if Kim Kardashian is leaving, I might just leave, too.
But wait, I can't just delete my Instagram! My whole life is there. The past 2 years of my life are there, in all their filtered glory. I guess I could go through my entire feed and snapshot every picture, but who has that time?
If you're thinking about deleting your Instagram but want to keep your precious pictures, here's an easy way how.
Freethephotos
This new website, created during this whole fiasco, allows Instagram users to transfer their pictures to their Flickr account easily. All you have to do is head over to Freethephotos and log in to your Instagram and Flickr accounts.
Once you authorize each, just click on Free Your Photos and all of your Instagram pictures should be uploaded to your Flickr account. Only your last 10,000 photos can be imported in a month, but I'm pretty sure no one has that many pictures. The time of transfer may be slow, regardless of the amount of pictures, due to high demand of this new app, so be patient.
Once the process is over, you should receive an e-mail that notifies you that all the pictures have successfully been transfered. You can now delete your Instagram and keep your entire life in tact.
